The Ridgefield Playhouse and Craig's Fine Jewelry Live in HD Series brings a live screening of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Oneginto the big screen on Saturday, April 22 at 12:55 p.m. Anna Netrebko reprises one of her most acclaimed roles as Tatiana, the heroine of Tchaikovsky's opera, adapted from Pushkin's classic novel. Dmitri Hvorostovsky stars as the title character, who rejects Tatiana's love until it's too late. Robin Ticciati, Music Director of Glyndebourne Festival Opera,conducts the revival ofDeborah Warner's staging, which opened the Met's 2013-14 season.

Alexey Dolgov sings the role of Onegin's friend-turned-rival, Lenski, with Elena Maximova as Tatiana's sister Olga and Štefan Kocán as Prince Gremin. The story follows the selfish hero of the title, Eugene Onegin and his lack of reciprocity with regards to an innocent and naive young girl named Tatiana. Tatiana falls in love with him at first sight and is heartbroken when Onegin states he cannot return her feelings. Out of boredom, the impulsive and facetious youth then starts a duel with his closest friend, one that can only end in death.
