Directed by Hartt Theatre faculty member Bob Davis, Actor Training and Music Theatre students present William Shakespeare's historical play that tells the story of Henry V of England and his conquest of France.

At the beginning of the spring semester of the junior year, Actor Training students spend approximately ten weeks training intensively on Shakespeare at Hartt's center in Birmingham, England, as part of Hartt's curriculum. Housed at the University of Birmingham, Westhill College, the program has access to major regional theaters, as well as The National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company. Henry V showcases the skills these students learned in England.

Under the guidance of Hartt faculty member Stephen Gryc, Composition majors Dan Lis '11 and Joshua Pettus '11 co-wrote the music for Hartt's performance Henry V. In his blog Lis wrote, "The music is an aspect of the play that helps define it. Therefore, the music should be guided towards a set goal of what the play should be. When I wrote, it was imperative to me that I was shaping the play through the music, and this pointed the play in a slightly different direction. My interpretation is a complement to the other aspects involved (the director's vision, the actors, set design, etc.)."

Students performing in Henry V include Thomas Rash of Rockport, MA, as King Henry the Fifth; Andrew McMath of Simsbury, CT, as Duke of Exeter; William Macke of Simsbury, CT, as Earl of Westmoreland and Captain Jamy; John Olsen of Las Vegas, NV, as Bedford and Erpingham; Timothy Rizzo of North Kingstown, RI, as Pistol; Charles South of Pembroke Pines, FL, as Nym, Bates, and Frech Soldier; Mark Ford of Okotoks Alberta, Canada, as Bardolf and Williams; Alex Saffer of Bronx, NY, as Llewellyn; Jayce Johnson of Bucerias, Nayarit, Mexico, as Gower, and Sir Thomas Grey; Salvatore Zullo of Bronx, NY, as Dauphin and Earl of Cambridge; Scott Caron of Shrewsbury, MA, as Montjoy and Lord Scroop; Benjamin Cole of Earlysville, VA, as King of France and Archbishop of Canterbury; Lars Lee of Minneapolis, MN as Duke of Burgundy and Duke of Orleans; Alana Fallis of Lake Grove NY, as Mistress Quickly (Hostess), Constable of France; Morgan Hammel of Hollywood, FL, as Katharine, Ambassador of France; Annie Bradford of Augusta, MI, as Alice and Bishop Ely; Sophia Watt of Seattle, WA, as Queen Isabel, Governor of Harfleur, and MacMorris; and Alexandra Bartley of Parsippany, NJ, as Boy.
