The Hartt School is proud to announce recent projects of Hartt students and alumni. These talented artists have landed roles on Broadway and in national tours, are dancing in competitive summer intensive programs, and are performing and working across the country.

MUSIC

Amanda Boehmer '01 recently was named Concerts and Events Manager at the Zankel Music Center at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.

The Boston Pops 125th anniversary season included a new work, "The Dream Lives On: A Portrait of the Kennedy Brothers," by composer Peter Boyer '93, ‘95 and well-known lyricist Lynn Ahrens. Acclaimed actors Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, and Ed Harris narrated the premiere performances of Boyer's work at Boston's Symphony Hall on May 18 and 19.
Hartt alumnus and conductor Richard Chiarappa and The West Hartford Symphony are among the first semi-finalists for The American Prize. Semi-finalists in orchestral and choral performance and orchestral and choral conducting were through a competitive submission and review process. Applicants were from twenty-six states and the District of Columbia. Finalists will be selected in May; winners of The American Prize will be announced in mid-June.

Kelly Fussell '10 was appointed Principal oboist in the Band of the US Air Force Reserve and Woodwind Quintet in Warner Robins, GA. For more information about the Band visit www.usafreeserveband.af.mil/organization/index.asp.

Hartt's own Graduate Fellow Joshua Hummel has won the Spectrum Singers' 30th Anniversary Choral Music Competition. Hummel won a cash prize and had his work premiered at the Spectrum Singers' concert on May 15, 2010. The Singers are directed by John W. Ehrlich. Cornelius White '84 is now the Promotional and Marketing Manager at Spectra records U.S.A/Canada. Mr. White will scout new talent, procure product sponsorship, book artist venues, and create international licensing relationships.

Phillip Boykin ‘95 will perform the role of Crown in the 75th Anniversary National Tour of Porgy and Bess, at The Bushnell from June 8 through June 13. John Brink ‘09 is officially touring in Transiberian Orchestra's new Rock Opera about Beethoven in Beethoven's Last Night, were he originated the role of Young Beeethoven. Performance stops included The Bushnell and Radio City Music Hall.

Carey Brown ‘03 will be in the Ensemble of the brand new show; Take Flight.

Ellen Condon '05 was a new voice in Scott Alan New Voices Concert on February, 22 at The Duplex in New York City. Cassie Levy of Hair hosted the event!

christine dwyer '07 performed on opening night on the Wicked Munchkinland Tour, the second National Tour. She is part of the ensemble and u/s for Elphaba.

Justin Fuller '07 performed in Orphans Home Cycle Off-Broadway.

Holly Greenberg ‘08 performs in Fiddler on the Roof at The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport, NY. The show opened in April and will run through June 20. For more information visit www.johnwengemantheater.com/.

Sheldon Henry ‘10 will play the Specialist in Arts Center of Coastal Carolina's production of Tommy.

David Kremenitzer '05 just completed the audiobook narration for the novel Scumble, by Ingrid Law, the new companion book to Savvy The Newbery Award winner and New York Times Bestseller. The audiobook will be available on CD at Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com in August. David also can be heard as the new voice of VH1's Unplugged Campaign.

Douglas Lyons ‘09, Mike Millan '11, and Jeremy Sevelovitz ‘11 participated in the New York City reading of Band Geeks at Ars Nova, on March 1.

Kyle Metzger ‘09 was featured in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical review Some Enchanted Evening, which ran April 14 through May 2 at the Ivoryton Playhouse in CT.

Jake Ottosen '07 performed in the New York City debut of CARTOON, a play by Steve Yockey with original music. The show ran April 11-21 at the National Comedy Theater.

JP Qualters ‘11 will be in Equus starring Alec Baldwin at East Hampton's John Drew Theater at Guild Hall June 8 through July 3.
Dee Etta Rowe '75 starred as the Earth Mother in Menopause, The Musical at the Bayway Theatre in East Islip, NY, that ran through May 23. She will also be appearing in the show in Port Washington at The Landmark Theatre July 8 through August 29. She has been performing in the show for 5 years, as the Iowa Housewife, and Earth Mother all over the country.

Philip Jackson Smith '10 will play Barfee in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Depot Theatre (NY) and Tri Arts Sharon Playhouse (CT) this summer.

Amanda Tudor ‘08 was a part of the May 3 Reading of The Drunk.

Ryan Bauer-Walsh ‘06 was featured on Oprah with his Billy Elliot castmates and recently was featured in an ABC special about the new Broadway Chicago Company.
