Hackmatack Playhouse's last play of the season opens August 12 and is said to have "an incredible cast". Mel Brooks' madcap musical, The Producers at Hackmatack features Greg Kretschmar of "Greg and the Morning Buzz" fame (WHEB/WGIR), Scott Smith, Dan Clay, and Jeff Seabaugh. Jeff directed All Shook Up at Hackmatack last year but has not appeared on the barn stage at Hackmatack for many years. For the last 6 weeks, Jeff has been performing at New York City's Midtown International Theater Festival in a one man show that he wrote. Steve Small (All Shook Up) is back for The Producers also.

Written and directed by Mel Brooks, the 1968 movie The Producers starred Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder, and Dick Shawn. Washed up Broadway producer Max and CPA Leo decide to plan the ultimate scam: to raise more money than needed for a sure-fire FLOP Broadway musical, Springtime for Hitler. The Producers was also a huge Broadway hit that opened in 2005.

Tickets for The Producers at Hackmatack Playhouse, 538 School Street, Berwick, Maine, range from $10 to $22. Visit www.Hackmatack.org or call (207) 698-1807.

The Producers runs August 12 through August 29th with Wednesday through Saturday shows at 8 pm, and Matinees Thursdays at 2:00. Hackmatack Playhouse summer season wraps up with "Masters of American Operetta" September 4 and 5 only.
