Summer Theatre Of New Canaan Presents THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED)

To celebrate its 15th Anniversary season, the Summer Theatre of New Canaan (STONC) is proud to present "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" free to the public in collaboration with the New Canaan Library. This irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard's plays will run weekends July 15-July 29 in New Canaan Library's Christine's Garden.

Over the past 15 years, STONC has become recognized as one of Connecticut's premiere summer theatres featuring award winning musicals, quality young family theatre and education programs. "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)," features three comic actors who weave their way through all 37 Shakespeare plays in 97 minutes in an engaging, hilarious performance that will leave audiences breathless and helpless with laughter. Performances will run on Saturdays (3 p.m.) and Sundays (1 p.m.) from July 15-July 29.

"Our mission is to feed the soul of our community through quality professional theatre. In years past, that has included free Shakespeare and we're thrilled to be bringing that back during our 15th anniversary season," said Melody Libonati, artistic director, Summer Theatre of New Canaan. "The New Canaan Library is a cultural center of our community making them a natural partner to deliver this free production."

"Our mission is to inspire lifelong learning through inspiration and discovery," said Lisa Oldham, executive director of the New Canaan Library. "This partnership with STONC to present professional theatre right here in downtown New Canaan is a cultural gift to our community."

"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" was London's longest running comedy and has been critically acclaimed by both American and British media. The show includes audience participation and parodies all plays written by William Shakespeare. The show is free to the public but tickets are required and can be reserved at www.stonc.org. All remaining tickets will be handed out 30 minutes prior to the performance. A limited number of reserved seats are available for a donation.

STONC's critically acclaimed 2018 main stage production of "Kiss Me, Kate" continues throughout July at Waveny Park. Theatre for Young Audience shows, including "Peter Pan," "James and the Giant Peach," and "Balloonacy" are also running weekends in July at Waveny. Tickets can be purchased at www.stonc.org.
