Playhouse on Park's PROOF Opens 1/23

By:

Playhouse on Park continues its Main Stage series with the 2001 Pulitzer prize-winning and Tony award-winning show Proof written by David Auburn, which opens Friday, January 23 at 8:00 p.m. Proof follows the young Catherine, who faces her father Robert's untimely death on the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday. While she may have inherited her father's genius, Catherine seems to share the same deteriorating wits and emotional instability. She must also face the arrival of Claire, her estranged sister; and a developing relationship with Hal, a mentee of her late father who seeks to find a mathematical breakthrough hidden within the 103 notebooks Robert left behind. Proof will be playing from January 21-February 8, 2015.

Proof features Dana Brooke (Catherine) who is making her Playhouse on Park debut. Brooke's previous work includes B Street Theatre: Vanda (VENUS IN FUR), Brooke (OTHER DESERT CITIES), Veronica (GOD OF CARNAGE), The Cherry Lane/FringeNYC: Amelia (VACUUM), and TV: FX's DAMAGES. A Playhouse on Park veteran, Damian Buzzerio (Robert) previously played Herr Schultz (CABARET). Buzzerio's other shows include Elm Shakespeare: Antiochus/Boult (PERICLES), Cassius (JULIUS CAESAR), and Florida Studio Theatre: Fermin/Eusebio (BOLEROS FOR THE DISENCHANTED). Marty Scanlon (Hal) recently performed on Playhouse on Park's stage as Louis (ANGELS IN AMERICA). Scanlon's prior work has included Manhattan Rep: Ben (THE PARTY'S OVER), The Strange Tree Group: Evan (THE WAR PLAYS), and sketch comedy web series, FAR FROM FAMOUS. Also making her Playhouse on Park debut, Melissa Macleod Herion's (Claire) past performances include The Pearl Theatre Company: Julia/Lucy understudy (THE RIVALS), Seven Angels Theatre: Eilis/Fionnoula (THE CRIMSON THREAD), and PlayMakers Repertory Company: Betty Mercer (LUMINOSITY).

Proof will be directed by Dawn Loveland. Loveland's Playhouse on Park directing credits include THE TRESTLE AT POPE LICK CREEK, RED LIGHT WINTER, and THEATRE UNCUT. She also serves as Playhouse on Park's Director of Education.

Shows are Wednesday-Sunday from January 21-February 8. Wednesdays and Thursdays the show begins at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays are at 8 p.m., and Sundays are at 2 p.m. Two preview shows will take place on Wednesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. For opening night, a pre-performance wine and cheese reception sponsored by Cabot Cheese, Edible Arrangements, and West Side Wine and Spirits will take place on Friday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. A talk back with the cast will take place immediately following all Sunday performances.
