Paula Poundstone to Play Ridgefield Playhouse, Today

By:

With her razor-sharp wit and impeccable comedic timing, Paula Poundstone is the star of NPR's hit radio show "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me". She will perform a night of comedy on Saturday, February 28, at The Ridgefield Playhouse at 8 p.m. Her latest book is There's Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say...very funny. For tickets ($60 orches.; $50 mezzanine/balc.), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.

She interacts spontaneously with her audience, delivering lines with such candor and comedic value that everybody laughs out loud. Her latest book is There's Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say...very funny. This event is part of the Clark Construction Comedy Series

Poundstone is known as one of the funniest comedians around. She can be heard on NPR's "Morning Edition", the "Huffington Post" and comedy site "23/6." Her first book, There's Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say, is an autobiography that is "part memoir, part monologue" and intertwines historical biographies with anecdotes from her own life. Paula's ironic and blindingly intelligent humor will touch the reader.

"Paula Poundstone's comedy is observational and improvisational, and this makes people relax and laugh. By design, the Playhouse show with Paula Poundstone is on a Saturday night when the work week is over, and we can enjoy a fun evening," explains Allison Stockel, Executive Director of The Ridgefield Playhouse.

Poundstone has also released her first comedy CD, "I Heart Jokes: Paula Tells Them in Maine," which is 60 minutes of hilarious comedy recorded live at the Stone Mountain Arts Center. The star of several solo HBO and Bravo specials, Paula was the first woman to win an ACE Award (the Cable Emmy Award) for Best Standup Comedy Performance and the first woman to be invited to perform at the distinguished White House Correspondents' dinner, which the President of the United States attends.

For tickets ($60 orches.; $50 mezzanine/balc.), all or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
