ON YOUR FEET! Hits The Bushnell
ON YOUR FEET! opened last night at The Bushnell Performing Arts Center in Hartford, Connecticut, bringing the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan to the stage, and the audience to their feet.
The story follows Gloria Estefan (Christie Prades) and Emilio
Estefan (Mauricio Martinez) from when they first met as kids, starting their music career in Miami with the Miami Sound Machine, which eventually led to one of the biggest international musicians of all times.
It highlights the struggles both Gloria and Emilio faced as they sought out a career in music, dealing with unapproving family members, consistent rejection, and a sudden tragedy that could have the possibility to change it all. But through the good and bad, Gloria and Emilio's love for one another was always strong and pure, proving they could get through anything together.
And while the story is heartening, the music is thrilling, with well-known ballads including, "Rhythm is Gonna Get You," "Conga," "Everlasting Love," "Don't Want To Lose You Now," and one powerful performance of "Reach."
A musical that will get out of your seat and bring tears to your eyes, ON YOUR FEET! is the most fun you'll have all summer.
