New London Maritime Society Presents the Opening of Two Exhibitions, 9/14

Up next: 2 new exhibitions about 2 Stonington designers of fast boats. Both open this Tuesday, September 14.

Captain Nathaniel Brown Palmer - A Maritime Pioneer
the 19th-c Stonington captain, who went to sea at 14, discovered a part of Antarctica & designed the prototype clipper ship. by Candace Sanford, with illustrations by Susan Scala (Flat Hammock Press). Meanwhile, why not visit his home - the nearby Palmer House.

A luncheon-fundraiser at the U.S. Coast Guard Officers Club to launch our New London Harbor Light Fund!

September 16 - THIRD THURSDAY Jibboom Roundtable with Patrick Kennedy & his son Pat (Paddy) Kennedy, who give a first-hand accounts of this spring, when Kennedy Marine was ordered to the Gulf with work boats, oil booms, anchor sets and other equipment. Join them for a discussion: Oil, the Gulf, & New London.
6:30 PM. FREE for members, $8 all others.

September 18 - next Saturday - is our Tag Sale@ the Custom House as well as Cruise Ship Day in New London. The Tag Sale will be held in the back courtyard, 10 AM to 5 PM.

MEANWHILE: We continue to gratefully accept Tag Sale and/or Silent Auction donations every day except Monday, between the hours of 1 and 5 PM, or by appointment: call 860-447-2501.

September 21 THIRD TUESDAYS- Jibboom Club #1 Gams - Reviving Jibboom Club #1. Beginning

September 21, Third Tuesdays will be Jibboom Club #1 Gams from 1400 hrs (2:00 PM) to 1700 hrs (5:00 PM). All Members, Friends, Interested Citizens, & Relatives are welcome to revive old traditions of seafaring folk, remember times past; play cards, dominoes, cribbage, chit-chat (gammning); have a cup of coffee or tea & maybe a cookie or two.
2 to 5 PM. Donation for treats.(This gathering replaces Cribbage Fridays.)
