Music Theatre of Connecticut to Host Open House, 9/12
A Community Open House will take place at Music Theatre of Connecticut on Saturday, September 12, from 10am-1pm. Students, parents and members of the community are invited to tour the facility, meet the MTC founders and faculty, and learn more about all the exciting opportunities at MTC School of Performing Arts. Also featuring sample classes for students age K-12, face painting, puppet making, refreshments and more. This event is free and open to the public.
Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC) is Fairfield County's premier provider of musical theatre performance and training. MTC MainStage produces award-winning professional productions, and MTC School of Performing Arts offers conservatory-style training for students age four through high school. Founded in 1987 by Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling, MTC is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization.
MTC, located at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk (behind Jones New York and Nine West Outlet), boasts a state-of-the-art black box theatre, rehearsal studios, scenic and costume design shops, dressing rooms, and beautiful lobby and public spaces.
"We could not be more excited to have a true theatre center right here in Norwalk," says MTC co-founder Kevin Connors. "The town has made us feel so welcome here and clearly value a resource like MTC where students and professionals work side-by-side in a space designed specifically to learn, develop and present the craft of theatre and musical theatre. MTC School of Performing Arts fall term begins the week of Monday, September 14, with opportunities for students in grades K-12 including classes, private lessons, student productions including "James and the Giant Peach," "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" and "Charlotte's Web" as well as the nationally-recognized College-Bound in the Performing Arts program.
