Mother-Daughter Duo Offer Pair of Acting Workshops

In a rare opportunity to learn the art and craft of theatre from a mother and daughter duo, Cie and Lea Peterson of Hartford, CT will be offering two acting workshops for students wanting to explore or improve their skills. Clouds and a Waffle Productions LLC presents two affordable workshop opportunities: Acting Basics with Cie Peterson and Musical Theatre Performance with Lea Peterson and Cie Peterson. Both will be held on Saturday, January 27th in the TheaterWorks' Hoffman Rehearsal Studio on the third floor of City Arts on Pearl, 233 Pearl Street in downtown Hartford.

ACTING BASICS with Cie Peterson, 10:00am - 12:45pm

Acting Basics is designed to help the beginning actor develop competency while discovering what acting is truly about. (Hint: it is NOT about the words.) If you have any interest at all in acting, or just curiosity about the craft, this is the workshop you need to get started. Registration is $69.

MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMANCE with Lea and Cie Peterson 1:00pm - 5:00pm $99*

Meeting the demands of musical theater requires the development of both acting and singing skills. This workshop, a must for any musical theater performer, will focus on not only the technical aspects of breath and voice control, but also on the artistic aspects of acting through music and song. A short list of songs for the day will be provided by Jan. 20. Registration is $99.

Cie Peterson is a native New Yorker, who began her actor training at the renowned Gene Frankel Theatre in the Broadway district. In addition to being an actor, Cie is an accomplished director, writer, acting teacher, voiceover artist and private coach. Her many directing credits include theatrical and video projects; If I Had a Dime, an original cartoon series she conceived, created, and wrote; countless showcases for Play On Acting Studio, the Farmington studio she founded and led for several years; and the web series Beige on Both Sides, currently in pre-production. Lea Peterson is a Boston-based singer, music director, and voice teacher. She holds a degree in Music/Vocal Performance from Skidmore College, where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude Honors, Dean's List recognition, and honors in music. She is a classically trained mezzo-soprano with professional experience singing opera and art song, musical theatre, pop, funk, and post-tonal pieces/new compositions. Lea has worked in various capacities with Coro Allegro, The Greater Boston Stage Company, Harvard Pro Musica, Big Smile Entertainment, Songful Artists, and Boston Children's Theatre, and is fast building a reputation of excellence as a choral singer, music director, conductor, and arranger.
