A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Max Wilk will take place April 9th at 3 p.m. at the Pequot Library in Southport, CT. The ceremony will feature music and various speakers who were close to Mr. Wilk. Light refreshments will be served following the service. Max Wilk, author, playwright, film and television writer, and dramaturg for the National Playwrights Conference for nearly three decades, passed away Saturday, February 19th in his home in Westport, Connecticut. Mr. Wilk was 90 years of age.

While at the O'Neill, Mr. Wilk helped both emerging and established playwrights refine their plays, working with some of modern theater's top luminaries. During his long and notable life, Mr. Wilk also graduated from the Yale School of Drama, served in military, and had an impressive career as writer, playwright and screenwriter. Mr. Wilk was the author of 19 books, four films, three produced plays, and countless television shows and magazine articles. Among Mr. Wilk's many honors are an Emmy and Peabody award.

The impact that Mr. Wilk has had on the entire field of entertainment is impossible to measure. He will be greatly missed at the O'Neill for his constant wisdom and wit which he shared with any and all. Our condolences are with the entire Wilk family.

The O'Neill is also planning a gathering in honor of Mr. Wilk during its 2011 summer season, more details to follow.

The Pequot Library is located at 720 Pequot Avenue Southport, CT 06890.
