Literary Theater Readers Needed at Playhouse on Park
West Hartford's own Playhouse on Park is seeking Literary Theater Readers (LTRs) to join others in their Reading Circle beginning this summer. An LTR position in the Reading Circle of Playhouse on Park is a fun and interesting experience, but as a critical part of the theatrical process there are essential skills and requirements that participants must meet.
Applicants are expected to be able to:
- Read scripts within a small time frame (one sitting, if necessary)
- Offer comments and/or suggestions on how the script could be conceived for stage
- Submit script evaluations within a reasonable time-frame (approximately one week after receiving the script)
- Complete the readings and evaluations on their own time, if necessary.
Plays submitted as "New Works" may include, but are not limited to comedies, dramas, and musicals. They can range anywhere from a 10-page sample to a complete one or two act play. There is typically a first and second read, followed by a selection for stage reading or a workshop.
Though LTRs are unpaid, they are highly rewarding positions and an integral part of bringing a show to the stage. This is a wonderful opportunity for any theater or literature fan.
