Under the direction of James E. Jackson, The Hartt Symphony Band performs a variety of repertoire including Richard Wagner’s Huldigungsmarsch (Homage March), an original composition for band written in 1864 in honor of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.  Huldigungsmarsch was the first of Wagner’s three large scale marches.  New England Triptych, a symphonic composition written by William Schuman in 1956, was based on different anthems from the 18th century New England composer William Billings.  The Hartt Symphony Band also performs Respighi’s Huntingtower and Holsinger’s In The Spring At The Time When Kings Go Off To War.

Jackson says, “This concert presents these composers at their best writing for band.  There is something for everyone!”
