Hartford Stage, under the leadership of Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts, today announced the full cast and creative team for Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, the season opener of the Tony Award-winning theatre's 49th season, on stage from August 30 through September 23.

The cast of Hedda Gabler will include Roxanna Hope, who played Caroline Cushing in Frost/Nixon on Broadway, as Hedda Gabler; John Patrick Hayden (Broadway's Tartuffe) as George Tesman; Sam Redford (The Hurt Locker) as Eilert Lovborg; Sara Topham (Hartford Stage's The Tempest) as Thea; Thomas Jay Ryan (cult classic Henry Fool) as Judge Brack; Kandis Chappell (Sondheim and Furth's Getting Away with Murder on Broadway) as Miss Julia Tesman; and Anne O'Sullivan (Broadway's Blithe Spirit) as Berta.

Jennifer Tarver, the award-winning Canadian director, who is closely associated with The Goodman Theatre in Chicago and the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, will helm the Jon Robin Baitz (Broadway's Other Desert Cities and TV's Brothers and Sisters) adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece.

The company describes the show: "Are you happy? Have the dreams of your youth - romantic, financial, artistic - come true? How far would you go to recapture one perfect moment? Come and see a part of yourself in Hedda Gabler - Ibsen's timeless masterpiece about an uncompromising woman trapped in a compromised world."

The production features scenic design by Eugene Lee (Hartford Stage's The Crucible; three-time Tony Award winner), costume design by Fabio Toblini (Hartford Stage's The Tempest and Bell, Book and Candle), lighting design by Robert Thomson and original music and sound design by Fitz Patton (Hartford Stage's Boeing-Boeing).
