Green Expo and Shakespeare-On-the-Green return to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, August 20

Families can enjoy Shakespeare in a new way (under a tent!) when "A Comedy of Errors" is performed by The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) on the green next to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, August 20, at 2 p.m. HSBC presents "A Comedy of Errors" produced by the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival and The Ridgefield Playhouse. This is Shakespeare with a modern-day spin acted in a way that provides a fresh approach to one of Shakespeare's most hilarious works! A Green Expo featuring locAl Green businesses, information on living green and items for sale will take place from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. After last year's successful event, Shakespeare on the Green and Green Expo will return much to the delight of families, young and old. Admission is free (limit 5 per family), but reservations must be made through The Playhouse box office at 203-438-5795 to ensure a seat. During the Green Expo, Practically Green and Ridgefield Bicycle Co. will lead a group of vendors who will be handing out information on living green and selling green products. This family-friendly event is underwritten by HSBC, the Altria Group, Inc., The O'Connell Family, Scott Schneider and Trish Breed. It is sponsored by Chris Bishop, Steve Carlson, Chris Couri, Joe Cugine, Scott Linke, David Lyons, Jerry Miller, Northeast Builders, Gary Smith and Andrew Tow.

A critically-acclaimed regional theater, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) inspires and delights audiences with contemporary performances of the works of William Shakespeare. For 24 seasons, the HVSF has eliminated the heavy language and over-dramatization associated with Shakespeare, making it the perfect show for all ages. It is the region's only professional resident Shakespeare Company, based in the Boscobel estate in Garrison, New York. Each year, The Ridgefield Playhouse offers this show free to the community as part of their commitment to making the timeless plays of Shakespeare accessible to all audiences.

Tickets are FREE but must be reserved by calling the box office at 203-438-5795. For more information on The Ridgefield Playhouse, visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
