Gregor Paslawsky Offers Master Classes at Hartford Stage, Beg. Today

The education department at Hartford Stage launches a new MainStage MasterClass series for adults beginning in June, featuring two special topic workshops, Clown for Actors and Melodrama, taught by distinguished guest artist, Gregor Paslawsky, appearing on Hartford Stage's MainStage this spring in Twelfth Night.

Clown for Actors

Clown for Actors is a two day workshop on Sunday, June 9 and Monday, June 10 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Clown is a way for the actor to discover their pleasure on stage - without scenery, costume, character, script, or even and idea - just a red nose and an audience. Darko Tresjnak, Artistic Director at Hartford Stage states: "I have never laughed more than in Gregor's clowning classes." All experience levels are welcome.

Melodrama

Melodrama is a two day workshop on Sunday, June 16 and Monday, June 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Students will explore the theatre of 19th century France, played for the working people of Paris - their stories of poverty, suffering, and struggle. The actors give all they have and then much, much, more to make their audience laugh and cry at the same time. All experience levels are welcome.

Gregor Paslawsky has worked in New York as an actor, teacher & designer since 1985. He received an MFA in acting from Temple University and has studied at the Ecole Philippe Gaulier in London. He specializes in teaching acting styles such as Melodrama and Clown, leading workshops at numerous universities and theater companies. He has been an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, School of the Arts, in the MFA program; Barnard College; and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He has acted all over the globe, including the London Shakespeare Festival, and was last featured on our stage in Bell, Book, & Candle.
