TheaterWorks, the professional regional theater in Downtown Hartford, has staged one of the most significant coups in recent regional theater history.

The company, founded in 1985 by Hartford-native Steve Campo, will open its upcoming 2010-2011 Season with the East Coast Regional Theater Premiere of one of the biggest hits to play on Broadway.

TheaterWorks' 25th Anniversary season opening production of God of Carnage, by Yasmina Reza, will be only the second licensed regional presentation of the play in the United States, following Seattle Repertory Theatre by just a few weeks. TheaterWorks' production is one of only four authorized stagings nationwide prior to the play's general release on April 1, 2011.

What:
In God of Carnage, by Yasmina Reza, a playground altercation between 11-year-old boys brings together two sets of parents to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as drinks flow the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters. The latest comedy by Tony Award-winning creator of ART.

God of Carnage opens TheaterWorks' 25th Anniversary 2010-2011 Season. The production is staged by acclaimed director, Tazewell Thompson.
