"Hedwig and the Angry Inch" is a rock musical about a fictional rock and roll band fronted by a genderqueer East German singer, Hedwig Robinson. The book is by John Cameron Mitchell, and the music and lyrics are by Stephen Trask. The story follows Hedwig and her loyal "husband," Yitzhak, a female singer who lives her life as a man under Hedwig's orders. The music is steeped in the androgynous 1970s glam rock style of David Bowie (who co-produced the Los Angeles production of the show), as well as punk performers Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.

The all-local production staff includes Direction by Christy McIntosh-Newsom, Music Direction by Eli Newsom, Choreography by Emily Frangipane, Costume Design by Jessica Camarero, Lighting Design by Don Rowe, with Nicholas Kuell serving as Stage Manager. Fairfield Center Stage is led by Artistic Director Christy McIntosh-Newsom and Executive Producer Eli Newsom.

The cast of performers from Fairfield County includes: Lance Anthony (Bridgeport) as Hedwig, Alexis Willoughby (Danbury) as Yitzhak (Sep 7-9), Arielle Boutin (Bridgeport) as Yitzhak (Sep 13-15), and starring as The Angry Inch are Josh Sette as Skszp (keyboard), Charles Casimiro as Jacek (bass), Chris Cavaliere as Krzyzhtoff (guitar), and Gabe Nappi as Schlatko (drums).
