Award-winning actress, Dana Ivey, joins the cast of Westport Country Playhouse's production of Happy Days from July 6th to the 24th. The show is directed by Mark Lamos.

From the Nobel-Prize winning author of WAITING FOR GODOT-recently revived on Broadway to wide acclaim-comes a play of luminous beauty and rare power. Samuel Beckett's masterpiece, the story of a woman's cheerful optimism in the face of a trifling universe, is among the most inspiring and exhilarating explorations of what it means to be alive. Ivey will play the lead character of Winnie. Casting of Willie has not yet been announced.

Dana Ivey made her Broadway debut in the 1981 production of MACBETH. The following year she was cast in a revival of Noel Coward's PRESENT LAUGHTER, for which she received the Clarence Derwent Award as Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play. She was nominated for two Tony Awards in 1984 - as Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Stephen Sondheim's SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and Best Featured Actress in a Play for a revival of HEARTBREAK HOUSE.

Ticket prices for Happy Days range between $35 and $55 and can be purchase on-line at the website (http://www.westportplayhouse.org), by phone at (203) 227-4177, and in-person at the box office. The theatre is located at 25 Powers Court, Westport, CT and directions are at the website.
