Curtain Call's Musical Mondays Presents TAKE ME, AMERICA, 4/19

By:

Curtain Call's popular Musical Mondays series finishes its ninth season of presenting new musical theater works in concert on Monday, April 19, 7:30 pm with "Take Me, America." "Take Me, America" was written by composer Bob Christianson and book writer / lyricist Bill Nabel. Nabel is best known for logging more than 9,000 performances as Broadway actor in such long-running shows as "A Chorus Line," "Beauty and the Beast," "Evita," "42nd Street" and "Sweeney Todd. Christianson has composed for film and television, conducted Broadway musicals and recorded with Diana Ross, Judy Collins and Aretha Franklin, among many other artists.

"Take Me, America" is an honest, striking and sometimes-comic new pop/rock musical that takes place during a single workday at the Immeigration and Naturalization Service. Described by Nabel at "A Chorus Line for Refugees," it follows three immigration agents as they decide the fate of a handful of individuals seeking refuge in America, and struggle with their own misgivings about the power they've been given.

New York professionals scheduled to appear include Michelle Liu Coughlin (South Pacific, A New Brain), Eric Chan (Flower Drum Song, Miss Siagon), Mike D'Antuono, Mariand Torres (Giant, The People vs. Mona), Natasha Tabandera (Miss Siagon, Mama Mia!), Ernest Williams (Show Boat, Porgy & Bess) and Robert Fowler (Dreamgirls, The Producers).

"Take Me, America" will be performed in concert at Curtain Call in Stamford, CT, on Monday, April 19, at 7:30 pm in the newly renovated Kweskin Theater, with a champagne reception to follow the performance. All tickets are $15.00. For reservations or more information, you can call Curtain Call at 203-461-6358 x 13 or pay a visit to www.curtaincallinc.com.
