Chris Coogan Performs in Concert at The MAC LiVE@theMAC is proud to present The Chris Coogan Quintet on Friday, February 23rd at 8pm. Chris Coogan is a popular jazz and gospel musician who has played with such artists as Ben E. King, Bette Midler, Donna Summer, Kristen Chenoweth, Dave Liebman and Darlene Love. The New York Times calls him "a masterful pianist." He has recorded over eight cds featuring his original jazz and gospel music.

Coogan's Gospel credentials include performing with Take 6, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Maya Angelou and Richard Smallwood. Locally, he directs the Good News Choir, a community choir that features his compositions and performs at local churches and events. Most weekdays, Chris teaches jazz piano and balances gigs with his jazz quintet. Chris' Quintet includes other accomplished musicians such as John Mobilio (bass), Jim Royle (drums), and Jim Clark (sax).

On television, Chris has played piano on Celebrity Jeopardy, the Arsenio Hall Show, and has written and performed original Gospel music for PBS on a prime-time documentary on the evangelist Amy Semple Mcferson with Emmy award winning composer Brian Keane. Also with Brian, he has performed 'whorehouse piano' for the hit series 'Copper' on BBC America produced by Barry Levinson.

Chris has written four national spots for the Humane Society and has performed on many other jingles. He has also performed for Martha Stewart, Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman and for former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Chris states, "I bring people together with music."

The LiVE@theMAC concert series is sponsored by Berchem Moses, Attorneys and Counselors at Law. The Milford Center for the Arts has been called "the sweetest little theatre along the Connecticut coastline," featuring an intimate, cabaret setting with outstanding acoustics. This series incorporates a BYOEE (Bring Your Own Everything But The Entertainment) vibe, but wine, beer, soft drinks, and snacks are also available in the Speakeasy Lounge.
