A birthday celebration for two actresses, Academy-Award Winner Celeste Holm and Tony-Award winner Elizabeth Wilson, takes place today, May 6th, at 2:00pm at The Historic Lyric Hall, 827 Whalley Avenue, New Haven, Ct.

The birthday party for Ms. Holm (95th) and Ms. Wilson (91th) will include a showing of a film featuring both of these actresses along with the still vibrant Estelle Parsons, and the late Kim Hunter, Patricia Neal and Maureen Stapleton. The film entitled “Broads” was conceived, produced and directed by Ray Glanzmann. Mr. Glanzmann will be in attendance to introduce his film along with Ms. Holm and Ms. Wilson with other surprise guests.

The Lyric Hall has an intriguing history. Originally called the West Rock Theater, it was designed by noted architect Ct. Bailey and constructed, in 1913. The theater featured silent films as well as live performances during the vaudeville era. By 1925, the theater found itself unable to compete with the grand movie palaces, in downtown New Haven and the West Rock theater closed. The theater was all but forgotten for the next 8 decades as the building was used for many purposes over the years including an automobile repair shop, a retail store, and most recently an antique shop. In 2005, John Cavaliere purchased the building and lovingly restored the theater to its’ original charming salon style space.

Refreshments, wine and champagne and birthday cake will complete the festivities along with several surprises. Seating is now limited, a $25.00 donation is requested to help the Preservation of the Lyric Hall. Please call 203-393-0733 for further information.
