Bebe Neuwirth to Charm at Ridgefield Playhouse in November Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth brings an evening of Stories & Song with Piano to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, November 10 at 8pm, part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway & Cabaret Series. In this intimate concert, the seasoned thespian, along with her accompanist, Scott Cady, will perform a collection of musical tales. Neuwirth studied dance at the Juilliard School in New York City before making her professional debut in a touring company of A Chorus Line in 1980. She won a 1986 Tony Award for her role in Sweet Charity. That same year, she made her TV debut on the hit sitcom "Cheers" as Lilith Sternin-Crane, wife of Dr. Frasier Crane, the role for which she won an Emmy Award. Neuwirth later returned to Broadway, earning another Tony Award for Chicago in 1997. Join us in the lobby at 7:15pm for a complimentary wine tasting and try some great vintages offered by Treasury Wine Estates, an Australian winery. Make it a great night out with dinner and a show -- visit Luna Rossa (90 Danbury Rd ~ Ridgefield) for dinner the night of the show and enjoy their pre-theater, 3-course pre-fixe menu when you show your ticket. Reservations suggested. Media partner for this performance is WEBE108, Connecticut's Best Music Variety.

Bebe Neuwirth has played all three of the principle female roles in the long-running Broadway Revival of Chicago. She was in the revival's original cast as Velma Kelly, and won the 1997 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. In 2007, Neuwirth did a stint as Roxie Hart, and in 2014, she returned to the show again, this time playing Warden "Mama" Morton. When offered a regular role on "Frasier," she turned it down and returned to the stage where she won her first Tony in 1986 as Best Actress (Featured Role - Musical) for playing Nicki in a revival of Sweet Charity. She has appeared in many films, including Jumanji, Say Anything and Summer of Sam and in countless television appearances including a recent recurring role on "Madam Secretary." Neuwirth is a sly wit and is quoted as saying, "If you have to ask how to be sexy after 40, you probably can't do it."
