Review: Love Never Dies Opens at The Bushnell

Last night, Love Never Dies opened at The Bushnell in Hartford, Connecticut, kicking off the very first U.S. national tour of the Phantom of the Opera sequel.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is back with a new world of fantasy, passion, and a powerful love that'll bring you to tears. The story is set in New York City's Coney Island. It is now 1907, ten years after The Phantom (Bronson Norris Murphy) mysteriously vanished from the Paris Opera House.

The Phantom now diligently works on songs for the island's entertaining freak shows but continues to grieve the love he lost ten years ago, Christine Daaé (Meghan Picerno). But when she shows up to New York City with her son and husband to perform one last time, the lovers find each other again. And soon, they are swept away in a romantic whirlwind, proving even after all this time, love never dies.

Expect to be delighted with a stunning set design of moody lighting, impressive stage changes, and an overall magical feel only the Phantom of the Opera can bring. Pair this with a heartfelt story as strong as the last, and beautiful love songs that include Beneath a Moonless Sky, Why Does She Love Me, and Love Never Dies, this musical is everything you'd want for this sequel and more.

Love Never Dies runs at The Bushnell from now until June 3rd.
