Review: A Smart, Witty Tale About the Modern American Family and the Political Struggles Faced to Achieve It
A story that captivates, reaching deep in your soul, The Call is one no family should miss. In just 90 minutes, expect to experience a rollercoaster of emotions: laughing, crying, and genuinely enjoying your time at TheaterWorks in Hartford.
A couple who have exhausted every avenue to getting pregnant, they finally decide on adoption. With having emotional ties to Africa, they believe a baby girl from that country is what will make their family life complete. However, when the call finally comes in from the adoption agency, it brings unexpected news the couple has mixed feelings about hearing. The baby is not a baby. Not even a toddler. But instead, is a 4 year-old little girl.
As the story unfolds, we learn much more than expected, and a previous trip to Africa brings a major family secret to a head.
The Call is a modern American tale about the yearning for a family, the appreciation of friends, and most of all, the courage to go all the way without letting anything stand in your way.
Catch The Call from now until June 19th at TheaterWorks in Hartford, CT.
