The production is directed by Richard McKenna with music director Jim Luurtsema and choreographer Sharon A. Wilcox. It will be presented on the Warner's Main Stage beginning July 28, 2018

All roles are open to audition. We are seeking a large ensemble cast (ages 14 and up) for this production. There are 3 principal roles with 14 supporting roles plus ensemble. Auditioners seeking principal or supporting roles must be at least 18 years old. All auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing up to 32 bars but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized Broadway-style musical selection that showcases their vocal range. Musical selections do not need to be from THE LITTLE MERMAID.

Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing, instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, MP3 Player or digital recorder will not be allowed. Auditioners may be asked to learn a short dance/movement combination taught at the audition and may also be asked to read from the script. Some roles will require "flying" - please be sure to indicate on the audition form if you are afraid of heights. Please note: Audition appointment spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first served basis.

Rehearsals will be held three times per week on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday evenings (7:00-10:00pm) with two Wednesday evening rehearsals on May 16th and May 30th. Some performers will be called for "flying rehearsals" in addition to regular rehearsals. Those dates will tentatively be July 18th, July 20th and July 21st. Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Tech week rehearsals will be Sunday through Thursday, July 22-26, 2018. We do ask that Friday, July 27, 2018 be held in case an additional tech week rehearsal is needed. The pickup rehearsal will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018.

Please have all conflicts for the rehearsal period available, and please note on Audition Form. If you are unable to make the mandatory tech week rehearsals and/or pickup rehearsal, we will be unable to cast you in this production.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World." Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. Built by Warner Brothers Studios and opened in 1931 as a movie palace (1,772 seats), the Warner Theatre was described then as "Connecticut's Most Beautiful Theatre." Damaged extensively in a flood, the Warner was slated for demolition in the early 1980s until the non-profit Northwest Connecticut Association for the Arts (NCAA) was founded and purchased the theatre. The Warner reopened as a performing arts center in 1983, and restoration of the main lobbies and auditorium was completed in November 2002. In 2008, the new 50,000 square foot Carole and Ray Neag Performing Arts Center, which houses a 300 seat Studio Theatre, 200 seat restaurant and expansive school for the arts, was completed. Today, the Warner is in operation year-round with more than 160 performances and 100,000 patrons passing through its doors each season.

Over 10,000 students, pre K-adult, participate in arts education programs and classes. Together, with the support of the community, the Warner has raised close to $17 million to revitalize its facilities. NCAA's mission is to preserve the Warner Theatre as an historic landmark, enhance its reputation as a center of artistic excellence and a focal point of community involvement, and satisfy the diverse cultural needs of the region.
