Additional Shows Added To Kander & Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS At Playhouse On Park Image

Critics and audiences alike have been raving about THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS. Due to popular demand, Playhouse on Park has added three additional performances. The additional shows are Saturday matinees at 2pm, on July 27 and August 3, respectively, as well as Tuesday, July 30 at 7:30pm. There are 12 performances remaining through August 4th. There will be a talkback after every show.

THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS has been hailed as one of the most visionary pieces ever to grace the Broadway stage. Nominated for a staggering twelve Tony Awards, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will have you tapping your toes and hollering for justice as the tables are turned on one of the most infamous events in American history: nine African-American men accused of a crime they did not commit. With its brilliant stew of performance styles and piercing new songs, it is truly a triumph of the American musical theatre.

Playhouse on Park partners with the Connecticut Historical Society: Join us for light refreshments, tour the CHS's exhibit "Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow" and a panel discussion on "How the Scottsboro Boys Can Help Us Talk About Racism" on Tuesday, July 30 from 5:30pm - 7pm (galleries open at 5pm). This is free and open to the public but you must RSVP by emailing rsvp@chs.org or calling 860-236-5621 ext. 238. Guest panelists include: Honorable Richard A. Robinson, Chief Justice of the CT Supreme Court; Professor Diana R. Paulin of Trinity College; and Frank Mitchell, Executive Director of the Amistad Center for Arts & Culture. The panel will be moderated by Valerie Caldwell-Gaines, General Counsel to Charter Oak Health Center.

Playhouse on Park's next Open Mic Night will take place on Saturday, August 3 from 10:45pm to 1am: Join us after the Saturday night performance and talk back for our final Open Mic Night of the season. Open Mics are free and open to the public (BYOB). Come to sing, play, entertain or simply to support and enjoy those that do. Accompanist provided.

To purchase tickets, or for additional information, please call the box office at 860-523-5900 x10 or visit www.playhouseonpark.org. Playhouse on Park is an award-winning professional theatre located at 244 Park Road, West Hartford, CT 06119.
