The historic Ohio pioneer, Jonathan Alder, comes to life in a new, original one-man play, “Path of the Pioneer!” A celebrity of the time mystified by hobby historians and neighbors alike, Jonathan invites the audience to share an evening with him at his home to set the record straight. From what begins as a simple recount of his life’s story, in what he thinks will be an opportunity to separate fact from fiction, springs forth an intimate discovery of life spent, loss endured, and the potential of legacy on the American frontier. With an unchangeable past and a damaged present, Jonathan leaves the audience with a story which they must decide what to do with. This world premiere is produced as part of the Village of Plain City’s America 250 Celebration.
