New to the Columbus area, Tennessee native Colleen Dunne is making her debut as a theatrical director with the new J.T. McDaniel dark comedy COMING OUT, premiering October 4 at the Abbey Theater of Dublin. A performer since the age of 8, Dunne took over direction of the new play from author McDaniel in September.

"I found myself as solo director when my co-director had to withdraw," McDaniel related. "As I am also playing Bob Anderson, who never actually leaves the stage except for the act break, it was obvious this wasn't going to work out. A director really needs to be able to watch, and you can't do that when you're also participating. At least, I can't. Colleen came in, got everything organized, and made a huge improvement in the show. The words are mine; the staging and dynamics are very much hers."

Asked about the show, Dunne responded, "I'm so grateful for the opportunity to direct a new show and help develop it in its Early Stages. The cast has been incredibly receptive to my ideas and I've had a lot of fun working with them. Luckily, I have worked with many great directors throughout my career, and I am able to use what I learned from them over the years."

Following a 6:30 pm preview on Thursday, October 3, COMING OUT opens at The Abbey Theater of Dublin at 8:00 pm on Friday, October 4, and runs weekends through October 19. For ticket information, call 1-866-558-4253, or order online at www.ComingOutThePlay.com/tickets.
