CAPA Presents SKAGGS FAMILY CHRISTMAS At The Palace 12/11

Virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Ricky Skaggs, celebrated musical clan The Whites, and their families perform Christmas classics and brand new holiday gems, bringing together the love of family and the beauty of song. Now in its fifth year, the Skaggs Family Christmas tour offers the music variety found at many holiday gatherings of friends and relatives-each person has his or her own unique personality and taste, yet their different vocal and instrumental talents flow into a single statement of love, friendship, and faith.

CAPA presents Skaggs Family Christmas at the Palace Theatre (34 W. Broad St.) on Friday, December 11, at 8 pm. Tickets are $40, $34.50, $27.50, and $22.50 at the Ohio Theatre Ticket Office (39 E. The Palace Theatre Ticket Office will open two hours prior to the performance. Students between the ages of 13-19 may purchase $5 High Five tickets while available.

A bus breakdown in 2003 left Ricky Skaggs, wife Sharon, daughter Molly, and son Luke to entertain an Atlanta audience themselves, minus Skaggs' award winning band, Kentucky Thunder. The positive audience reaction and the pure spontaneity left an impression on Ricky that wouldn't go away. An evening of singing Christmas music with extended family, Sharon's sister Cheryl, their father Buck, and Cheryl's daughter Rachel cemented the impression, leading to five holiday shows that winter.

The result was A Skaggs Family Christmas, Volume 1, the first full-length recording from the family, featuring 13 of the songs performed in their show. Other selections have been recorded for A Skaggs Family Christmas, Volume 2, still in progress.
