So Back to the Garden is making its return to the stage this February 7th. This we know. But, in addition to the rather significant change of removing the word "Woodstock" from the title, Shadowbox's documentary musical about the summer of '69 will also feature some brand new cast members.

"It's pretty great the way it worked out, actually" says choreographer and General Manager Katy Psenicka, "We had five people approach us with an interest in joining the cast without even knowing that four people had told us they would not be able to return."

Three of those new additions to the cast are Shadowbox Newport employees David Kabbes, Matt Mayerle and Lauren Good, and one is Columbus ensemble member Kaleigh Lockhart. They will be filling the voids left by Stephanie Lee, Lynsey Strouse and Chrys Kambouris. The forth company member not slated to return to the musical is David Whitehouse who previously held the role of Edward "Chip" Monck, the real life emcee of the Woodstock festivAl. Whitehouse will not participate in Back to the Garden's return run so that he can spend the time at home with his wife and newborn child.

The role of Chip will be taken over by Newport cast member John Boyd, who was last seen on the Columbus Shadowbox stage as Brad in Shadowbox's 2007 production of the Rocky Horror Show. "I can't wait to do another show with everybody up in Columbus," remarks John, "Although I'm not as keen about being shirtless. Still, I guess it's better than the lingerie I had to wear in 'Rocky.'"
With no actual loss in size, Back to the Garden remains the largest cast for any Shadowbox production. "We don't have everybody from Newport," muses Psenicka, "but I think there are only three Columbus employees who aren't in this thing".

Back to the Garden will reopen Sunday, February 7, 2010, 7:00 PM, and will have a limited run in February and early March. Shows will be Sundays only at 2:30 and 7:00 PM. A closing date has not been determined. Tickets are $30 / $20 students, seniors, active military. To make reservations contact the Shadowbox box office at 614-416-7625 (ROCK) or go online to www.shadowboxcabaret.com or www.woodstockmusical.com.
