The Cleveland Orchestra Announces Free Stream Of Beethoven No. 9 Performance As “Thank You” For 100 Years Of Support

As part of its centennial celebration and a special "thank you" for 100 years of support of The Cleveland Orchestra, the Orchestra today announced that audiences, both near and far, will have the opportunity to stream the final movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 for FREE on Spotify. CPT's Raymond Bobgan Elected President Of NNPN Board Of Directors

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is proud to announce that the National New Play Network (NNPN), an alliance of professional theatres that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, has appointed Raymond Bobgan, CPT Executive Artistic Director, as President of the Board of Directors. Raymond was elected to the Executive Committee in 2016 as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. Raymond also served as Co-Chair of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee. Because of his work with the EDI Committee, Raymond became heavily involved in NNPN's strategic planning process, which will be completed in December 2018.

HAMILTON Announces Lottery for Cleveland Run

Producer Jeffrey Seller and Playhouse Square announce a digital lottery for HAMILTON tickets will begin in conjunction with the show's first performance (July 17) in Cleveland at Playhouse Square. Thirty-Seven (37) orchestra tickets will be sold for every performance for $10 each. The digital lottery will open at 11:00 AM ET on Sunday, July 15 for tickets to the Tuesday, July 17 performance. Subsequent digital lotteries will begin two days prior to each performance.

The 1950s was a period of racial stress in much of the south. Lynchings, school segregation, separate lunch counters and drinking fountains, blacks to the back of the bus, laws against black and white mixing. Even separate black and white radio stations was the custom, as were black and white musical styles. Patty Page, Perry Como and 'nice music' was the white style. Rock and Roll was for blacks.
