The convergence-continuum 2016 Season includes a Playwrights Festival, two world-premiere productions, two regional premieres, an Ohio premiere, a modern American classic, and a series of one-weekend special-event performances. Details can be found below and online at convergence-continuum.org.

NEOMFA PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL- Feb 11-13 & Feb 18-20
Four world-premiere plays by NEOMFA grad students. For the fifth year, convergence-continuum continues its successful collaboration with Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Cleveland State University. This time it's two new full-length plays and two new one-act plays by four different local MFA playwrights. One full-length play plus a one-act play will be presented as a double bill on one weekend (Thu-Sat at 8 pm), and the other full-length and one-act will be presented on the other.

BOOTYCANDY by Robert O'Hara - March 25-April 16 (Regional premiere)
Directed by Terrence Spivey (Artistic Director, Karamu Theater)
Bootycandy, which just completed a highly successful off-Broadway run in Oct 2014, is a semi-autobiographical, raucous and decidedly un-politically-correct satire that tells the story of Sutter, who is on an outrageous odyssey from the 1970's to the present through his childhood home, his church, dive bars and a nursing home in a wild series of scenes, sermons and meta-theatrics that link up to portray his growing up gay and black in America.

THREE TALL WOMEN by Edward Albee - May 20-June 11
Directed by Tom Kondilas
Our modern American classic for the season earned a Pulitzer and three Best Play awards for 1994. Edward Albee has, in Three Tall Women, created a masterwork which follows a 93-year-old woman's reflections on her family, now departed or estranged, and how it has shaped her life and identity.

HARBOR by Chad Beguelin - July 8-30 (Regional premiere)
Directed by Cory Molner
Family and children are on playwright Chad Beguelin's mind in Harbor as it tells the story of two newlyweds, Kevin & Ted, living in tranquil affluent domesticity, until Kevin's vagabond, pothead (and pregnant) sister, Lottie, and her 15-yr-old daughter (father unknown) show up. The bonds of kinship are tested in this alternately biting and touching comedy about the meaning of family.

SELFIES AT THE CLOWN MOTEL by Chris Johnston - Aug 26-Sept 17 (World premiere)
Directed by Clyde Simon
Clowns can be funny, sad and sometimes scary - and in this world-premiere production, by Cleveland playwright Chris Johnston, set in a clown-themed motel, they can be very human as well.

LIKE I SAY by Len Jenkin - Oct 14-Nov 5 (Ohio premiere)
Directed by Tyson Douglas Rand
Like I Say is an unpredictable, structurally bizarre and strangely comic whirlwind of a play with stories within stories, weird puppet shows, an Alpine zombie resort, and much more. A truly wild ride.

THE KNIFE IS MONEY, THE FORK IS LOVE by Jonathan Wilhelm - Dec 2-17
(World premiere)
Directed by Geoffrey Hoffman
In this world-premiere production by Cleveland playwright Jonathan Wilhelm, it's 1932, and Tobias, a young man enamored with radio serials and pulp fiction, receives a package which leads him on a search for the members of a secret society. It's also present day in the theater, where the actors are trying to work out Tobias' strange story. Confusion, and much comedy, ensues as they try to untangle the tale for us.

plus:

"Tweener" one-weekend special-event shows between the above - to be announced

All performances are held at The Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd., Cleveland OH 44113, in the historic Tremont neighborhood. Information and reservations are at 216-687-0074 and convergence-continuum.org.
