Cleveland's Karamu House presents the Ohio premiere of Yellowman, an award winning drama that explores racism within the Black community by Dael Orlandersmith.

In Yellowman, Alma and Eugene have known each other since they were children. As their friendship blossoms into love, Alma struggles to free herself form her mother's poverty and alcoholism, while Eugene must contend with the legacy of being "yellow" - lighter-skinned than his brutal and unforgiving father.

FrEd Sternfeld, Artistic Director of Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory, directs this absorbing two character 2002 Pulitzer Prize nominated drama-runner up to TopDog/UnderDog. Yellowman is an edgy and provocative exploration of intra-racism within the Black community and its unflinching look at its ugly legacy.

This production, starring Kristi Little and Kyle Primous, features scenic, lighting and sound design by Richard Morris, Jr. and is stage managed by Twyonia Cooper.

Yellowman runs from October 30-November 22 at the Arena Theatre at Karamu. Tickets range in price from $10-$25 and can be purchased by clicking here or calling the box office at 216-795-7077.

Karamu House has been an important part of the Cleveland community for nearly a century. From a unique vantage-point within the African-American community, Karamu has fostered true interracial understanding and cooperation, an awareness of cultural diversity and an appreciation for the rich African-American cultural heritage.  For more information visit www.karamu.com.
