Beck Center to Launch Red Stage Summer Music Series

By:
Beck Center for the Arts is pleased to present the outdoor Red Stage Summer Music Series this July through September. Four concerts will take place on Wednesdays, July 27, August 10 and 24, and September 7 from 6-8 p.m. The Red Stage is located on the front lawn and patio of Beck Center's main building located at 17801 Detroit Avenue. The series is free and open to the public.

Designed to engage local musicians and the community, these concerts will also feature interactive arts experiences, as well as refreshments on sale. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chairs for their comfort.

The series will kick-off on Wednesday, July 27 with the Ki Allen Quartet featuring Peter Dominguez, Bob Fraser, and Ron Godale. Ki Allen is an accomplished extraordinary vocalist who applies her flexible, elegant approach to many musical styles. With a mastery of jazz, this quartet sets the bar for the Red Stage this summer.

The series continues with Uno Lady and Mike Uva sharing the stage on Wednesday, August 10. Both musicians will perform their own sets throughout the evening. Relying only on her voice for accompaniment, Uno Lady layers her vocals with a small mixer and loop pedal to produce a hauntingly, serene sound. Mike Uva makes smart, understated pop in offhandedly catchy melodies. Together they will create a concert not to be missed.

Boy=Girl will take the indoor stage on Wednesday, August 24 in the Main Building's Main Gallery. This acoustic Americana duo with penetrating harmonies and captivating playing promises an evening of traditional and contemporary music with an emphasis on original compositions.

The series will conclude with Ahi-Nama on Wednesday, September 7. Since 2013, Ahi-Nama has been delivering a fresh blend of Latin music to Northeast Ohio. They are sure to light a fire under the dance floor with their fun and danceable mix of Latin, Jazz, Salsa, and Timba music from Cuba and the Caribbean!

The Red Stage Summer Music Series is generously sponsored by the Callahan Foundation. In the chance of rain, indoor locations have been set and may be accessed by calling Customer Service at 216.521.2540 x10 or visiting beckcenter.org.
