Associate Artistic Director Gordon To Leave Play House

By: Apr. 02, 2010

Associate Artistic Director Seth Gordon will be leaving The Cleveland Play House in May to begin a new opportunity as Associate Artistic Director at The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.

Gordon remarks, "I've been at The Play House since 2001, and it's amazing to me that nine years have passed. It's been a wonderful ride here. I've had so many rich and challenging opportunities to direct plays, to help create FusionFest, and to meet and work with countless friends and colleagues. I even owe meeting the love of my life to Cleveland. I have great respect for The Play House and everyone who works here. I have supreme confidence in its future and regret that I won't get to work in the beautiful new spaces now being planned. I am filled with gratitude for everything the Play House and Cleveland has given me."

Michael Bloom, Artistic Director at The Cleveland Play House, states that "Seth has been an important asset to The Cleveland Play House for nearly nine years. He's been a versatile, team player who has done yeoman work in so many areas of the theatre. We wish him the best in his new position."

Gordon will remain with The Play House through May 25, during which time he is directing Bill W. and Dr. Bob, running April 9 - May 2 and A Soldier's Tale, a FusionFest collaboration with the Cleveland Orchestra and GroundWorks DanceTheater, running April 22 - 25.

Bloom will be conducting a national search for Gordon's successor.

Founded in 1915, The Cleveland Play House is the first permanently established professional theatre in the United States.
