Technical Director - DreamWright

Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Technical Director will work as a collaborative member of each Production Team throughout the season and will oversee, educate and guide all participants involved in the technical aspects of the productions. The Technical Director is responsible for oversight and maintenance of the scene shop and equipment, properties and stage furniture, lighting instruments and equipment, and sound equipment. The Technical Director will directly advance our educational mission of helping people to grow creatively through teamwork on theatrical productions.



Qualifications

Education, Experience and Key Competencies:



• Theatre degree with technical experience in lighting, sound and set construction, or equivalent work experience in the field.



• Current with the latest trends in technical theatre.



• Ability to work with volunteers and participants of all ages in technical areas



• Familiar with a variety of theatre concepts, practices, and procedures



• A depth of creativity, flexibility and communication skills



• Ability to work in a collaborative learning environment that emphasizes the creative process as well as the final product



• An eagerness to advance the organization’s strategic initiatives



Work Environment:

• Must be able to work on and climb ladders for hanging and focusing of lighting instruments



• Must be able to use necessary power and hand tools



• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with or without assistance



• Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, sit and stand



• Ability to learn and operate DreamWrights’ current theatrical control systems





Working Conditions

Some evening and weekend work required



Applicants must have the ability to work with, mentor and engage volunteers of all ages; simultaneously manage multiple projects and work in a collaborative learning environment that emphasizes the creative process as well as the final product.
