Master Carpenter at Bay Street 2018 Summer Season - Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater, Sag Harbor, NY seeks an Master Carpenter for the upcoming Summer 2018 Season. Bay Street is a professional Regional theatre company with a 299-seat mainstage situated on Long Wharf, in Sag Harbor, NY. Bay Street works with professional directors, designers, playwrights, and actors from New York City and around the country.



The Mainstage productions for this season are the world premiere of FELLOW TRAVELERS (May 29 – June 17), FROST/NIXON (June 26 – July 22), EVITA (July 31 – August 26). Please check out Bay Street's website for more info: www.baystreet.org.



Duties for the Master Carpenter include assisting Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director in executing the scenic designs for the mainstage productions as well as other special events, concerts, galas, outdoor performances. Their responsibilities include maintaining tool and material stock of carpentry shop spaces, and coordinating carpentry crews and assigning tasks as necessary. Candidates should have an extremely-high level of carpentry skills and exceptional fast-paced problem solving abilities, and demonstrate proficiency in the safe operation of power tools, scenic carpentry, theatrical rigging, and stage operations. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining scenery, rigging, and stage equipment.



The Master Carpenter reports directly to the Technical Director. Candidates should be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, work safely, efficiently, and quickly and exhibit professional behavior at all times. Strong organizational skills are required with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional non-traditional hours. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in high places. Ideal candidate would have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Season employment is from May 7 through September 8. Salary and housing included.
