The New Group, one of New York's leading Off-Broadway theaters, is seeking a Marketing Fellow to assist with the creation and management of its social media platforms as well as special event and production-specific marketing needs. The New Group is an award-winning, artist-driven company with a commitment to developing and producing powerful, contemporary theater. In addition to producing four annual productions, the organization's New Group/New Works play and musicaldevelopment program champions original works by emerging and established authors. The New Group also operates a variety of theater education programs that provide opportunities for artistically inclined high school, college and adult students.New Group Next Fellowships are full-time paid appointments and are designed to train candidates from underrepresented communities in the New York theatre industry who have had limited or no access to arts training.In addition to the specific fellowship description below, the Marketing Fellow will become part of The New Group team in the following ways in order to expand the breadth of their understanding of how a non-profit theatre operates:? Participate in weekly departmental and staff meetings? Attend and provide event support for Opening Nights, fundraising benefits and other special events? Invitations to one-on-one sessions with senior staff members to gain perspective in other aspects of the organization? Additional mentorship and coaching by Founding Artistic Director Scott Elliott and Executive Director Adam Bernstein? Resume guidance, job search strategies and interview preparation? Introductions to external industry networks in chosen fields to help cultivate relationships for future employment opportunitiesThe Marketing Fellow will work directly with the Marketing Director and interface with the Press Representative and Advertising Agency to develop and broaden The New Group's audience. The New Group's programming reaches over 40,000people annually. As a part of the Marketing team, the Fellow will learn skills and gain experience to help The New Group reach a new, more diverse audience.Over the course of the fellowship, this position will include the following training:? Assist in the management of The New Group?s social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube? Help with the development of online content and social media campaigns and oversee the content calendar for social media strategy? Research the competitive landscape to understand how other companies are activating in the social space? Help with tracking and analyzing social media and website insights in order to implement adjustments based on findings? Capture content including videos and photos for use on social media and The New Group?s website? Assist with implementing the marketing plan for each production? Provide support at special events and video shoots? Assist with other marketing duties as assignedQualifications:? Passionate about using social media to tell stories and build community? Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail? Ability to work and collaborate with a diverse range of people? Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a timeThroughout the fellowship period, there will be an ongoing evaluation process to determine appropriate areas for growth and outline future goals. At the end of the fellowship, it is The New Group's intention that the fellows will have gained skills and experience that will make them competitive candidates for future employment in New York?s theatrical workforce.Fellowship compensation is $15 per hour for a 20-hour week plus a local Metrocard.
