COMPANY XIV, a professional NY based dance, theatre, circus, opera fusion company, is seeking a full time Costume Supervisor and Shop Manager for their 2017-2018 Season. Contract is available September 15th 2017.www.companyxiv.com



The Costume supervisor and manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Costume Shop including, but not limited to: managing the execution of costume designs for all productions, department budgeting, costume shop personnel, maintaining the costume inventory and executing daily costume fittings and repair notes. Please note that this is not a “design” job. However, there may be opportunity for “styling” guest artists.



Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide costume support to all Company XIV Productions.

- Manage all spaces within the assigned area of costuming.

- Work closely with the designers in the execution of their designs.

- Supervise and participate in the construction, alteration, repair, cleaning, maintenance, inventory, and storage of costumes.

- Act as shopper/buyer for productions as needed.

- Track and report all expenses associated with the operation of the costume shop, including purchases, maintenance, and personnel.

- Maintain up-to-date budget information concerning each production.

- Retain confidentiality on all aspects related to the company, performers, and staff.

- Implement a costume rental program of XIV stock pieces, track and report all rental costumes and collect fees etc.

- Train and manage the full-time and part-time costume shop staff including interns and stitchers.

- Maintain Company XIV’s inventory of costumes and ensure these items are stored in a clean and orderly manner.

- Ensure that show costumes are maintained in a clean and usable manner during the run of the show.

- In conjunction with the production staff maintain a safe, efficient, organized, and clean working environment of all shop and production operations.

-Experience in and willingness to run dressing track as needed during productions.

-Maintain and set up accounts with preffered vendors working to get best non-profit pricing.



Qualifications:

- Strong understanding of design and construction of costumes.

- Experience in cutting, draping, pattern making, measurements, alterations, painting, dying, costume crafts, make-up, and wigs.

- Strong and demonstrated ability to collaborate with a production team.

- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and follow schedules.

- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

- Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure.

- Represent an example of honesty and integrity.

- Strong written and verbal communications.

- Strong budget and cost controls skills.

- Ability to work independently.

- Degree in Theatrical Costuming preferred or equivalent professional experience.

Weekly rate commensurate with experience, increased rate for tech week and two days off weekly.
