LEVELING UP Comes to the Thompson Shelterhouse, 2/9-3/10

The fuzzy line between reality and virtual reality is explored in the world- premiere production of LEVELING UP by Deborah Zoe Laufer. This thought-provoking and often humorous play begins previews in the Playhouse's Thompson Shelterhouse Theatre Feb. 9 and continues through March 10.

2013 Overture Awards Finals Competition Will Take Place 3/2 at Aronoff Center

The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) will present the 2013 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition - the largest locally-run arts scholarship competition in the country. The Overture Awards annually provides a $3,000 scholarship to six area high school students for education and training expenses, with 18 finalists each winning a $500 scholarship.

Know Theatre has announced When The Rain Stops Falling by Andrew Bovell, acclaimed Australian playwright and author of Speaking in Tongues (recently seen at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in 2012). Time Out Magazine's Best New Play of 2010, When the Rain Stops Falling opens on February 8, 2013 and runs through March 16, 2013. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips will direct the production, with scenic and lighting design by Andrew Hungerford, costume design by Noelle Wedig, and sound design by Doug Borntrager.

Ohio State Theatre returns to the Lincoln Theatre following the success of last year's Macbeth with this 60-minute adaptation, intended to introduce young audiences to the joys of Shakespeare and his language. Twelfth Night tells the tale of the topsy-turvy world of Illyria, where a wise clown guides the way through a knotty maze of disguises, practical jokes, and the ever-complicated pursuit of love. A delightful cast of characters shows us the effects of revelry pushed to the limit, and how a couple of outsiders can create balance amidst the chaos.

This New Year's Eve, get your fedoras and flapper dresses ready for the 7th Annual Know Theatre CityBeat NYE Speakeasy Party! Attendees can look forward to raucous back room games, tasty appetizers, and two bars serving up classic martinis, and a champagne toast at midnight! Entry to the event is $15 in advance and $25 beginning December 24 at noon. All proceeds support Know Theatre of Cincinnati's mission of creating a playful artistic community where artists can collaborate and grow. This December 31, the party starts at 8pm and jazzes away into the New Year, or until 1am.
