According to eveningexpress.co.uk a production of The Producers is set to open in Shanghai Cultural Square on November 1, then tour China for fourteen weeks. Two Scottish actors, Scott Armstrong and Sam Wingfield, have been cast in the show.

Scott, who grew up in Ellon, has been cast as Franz Liebkind, a former Nazi who penned a musical tribute to Hitler. Sam, who grew up in Bridge of Don, has been cast Ulla, the producers' Swedish secretary.

Scott said he auditioned for the role back in March, and got the call from his agent while working in Frankfurt. He said he is excited to take on the role, and hopes to see the show possibly expand beyond China. Scott attended Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London and graduated in 2008. He has been in productions of Beauty and the Beast, White Christmas, and Whiskey Kisses.

This production of The Producers will be Sam's acting debut. She said she is excited to take on the role of a lead but is also nervous. She has spent much of her time dedicated to singing and dancing in ensembles, and is now learning to memorize lines and scenes.

Sam attended Gray's School of Dance, then at age seventeen pursued dancing at London Studio Dance Center. She has worked as a dancer on Oceania Cruise Line, and toured the UK in a production of Funny Girl.

The Producers follows a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime for Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.
