Hong Kong Dance Company is collaborating with Chung Ying Theatre Company to incorporate innovative theatrical elements into the performance of Dance-to-know MULAN. Starring contracted actors from Chung Ying Theatre Company, ChunChun and Freddie Chan, telling a story of a passionate Chinese culture researcher and a soldier fleeting from war meet by chance, and embark on a magical adventure across time and space. Audiences will witness iconic scenes including The Flames of War Lit up the Sky, In Place of Father, Battle Flags Waving, and Wearing Maiden Affection, extracted from the award-winning Folklore Dance Drama The Legend of Mulan, Hong Kong Dance Awards 2014 for "Outstanding Production" and "Outstanding Ensemble Performance, and The Hecklers 2013-14 for "Best Dance Show". This year, in collaboration with Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong, we are delighted to introduce “Relaxed Performance” to our main stage performances. These sessions are suitable for all audiences, especially those with autism spectrum, intellectual disabilities, learning difficulties, and special needs. During the performance, the auditorium will maintain moderate lighting levels, allowing audiences to enter and exit freely. The performance will feature soft lighting and reduced sound levels to minimise sensory stimulation, creating a friendly and relaxing theatre environment, advocating for an inclusive society. Dance-to-know MULAN will be performed on 16 – 18 May 2025 at Sha Tin Town Hall, and 26 – 27 July 2025 at Yuen Long Theatre. Tickets are available NOW at URBTIX and Damai.
