iO Chicago Theater Presents STRAIGHT CAMP: A NEW MUSICAL, Now thru 4/11
Straight Camp: A New Musical will be presented by iO Chicago Theater. The musical features Book and lyrics by Rob Anderson and Score by Mike Malarkey. It will be directed by Rob Anderson with choreography by Nikki Pierce and accompaniment by Benjamin Nichols, running today, March 7-April 11, 2013 at the iO Chicago Theater, 3541 N. Clark St., Chicago, Ill.
The cast features Drew Anderson, Rob Anderson, Alex Garday, Amber Gerencher, Katie Klein, Andrew Knox, Jennifer Mills, and Andi Woody.Whit, A teenage musical theater prodigy, is outed as gay in his hometown. His parents send him to Mount Saint Cleanliness, a gay-to-straight camp in Texas. There he meets other bright characters who are looking to make sense of their new surroundings. They work together to try to escape the grasp of the effeminate headmaster, Pastor Father, and his assistant, Deputy Ann.

Rob Anderson comes from a musical and theater background, graduating from James Madison University in 2009. In 2010 he won the fifth season of the critically acclaimed Chicago comedy competition, Impress These Apes. In 2012 he finished a sold-out six month run of Steamwerkz the Musical at The Annoyance Theater, which he also helped write. He currently writes for the Paper Machete, performs with Juneboy and The Deltones at the iO Theater, and created the original web series 'If Websites Were People.'
