When the weather heats up, Uptown Underground is the cool place to be for Top Shelf Retrotainment including burlesque, vaudeville, variety, magic, comedy and more.

Located below street level at 4707 N. Broadway, Uptown Underground is the newest addition to a burgeoning entertainment district in the Uptown neighborhood. Uptown Underground is a 21 and older club and also the home of The Kiss Kiss Cabaret, Chicago Magic Lounge, Chicago Cabaret Project, Boy Toy Burlesque, Muffy Fishbasket and her Broadway Divas, Uptown After Midnight, Nick Sula's Spotlight, Brass Chuckles Comedy and Uptown Live with James VanOsdol.

New this summer, one inclusive cover charge per night ranging from $5 to $25 allows patrons to choose to see any and all entertainment of the evening. Uptown Underground also continues to experiment with new takes on old cocktail recipes featuring the best local craft spirits. For tickets and information, visit www.UptownUnderground.net.

"We're really excited about the new changes that we're making to programming this summer," said co-owner Jenn A Kincaid. "We had a wonderfully warm reception for our opening and first few months of business and now we are thrilled to build on that momentum by taking the most in-demand performances and making them accessible and affordable for a very full night of entertainment. It's so great to see patrons from all walks of life enjoying entertainment-stylings from a bygone era with a modern flair all under one roof...or rather, one sidewalk! "

In addition to the sizzling summer line up, Uptown Underground is re-imagining a classic cocktail each week using spirits from local distilleries FEW, Koval and Next Star, to name a few. The most popular cocktails over the summer will be added to the fall permanent menu.

Tuesday nights feature the cabaret musical stylings of Nick Sula, renowned Chicago pianist and music director, in Nick Sula's Spotlight. Sula performs classics and standards on a 1922 Lyon and Healy grand piano. Patrons can also bring their own sheet music for Sula to provide live accompaniment to any song. Cabaret Tuesday's start at 8 p.m. and cover is only $5 - no drink minimum.

Wednesdays will see the re-launch of Brass Chuckles Comedy: Comedy that Kicks Ass!, programmed and hosted by the one and only, Tamale Rocks. Each Wednesday features a new line-up of some of the area's best and brightest comedians performing stand-up and improv based on a nightly "Performer Challenge." After the mainstage show, there is an open-mic opportunity where anything is fair game. Entertainment kicks off at 8 p.m. every week. Patron cover for the evening is $10. Open mic performers are free with a two-drink minimum.

Thursday's are magic with Chicago Magic Lounge presenting old-school illusions from table-hopping magicians to main stage acts who elicit a whole lot of WOW. The Mainstage show starts at 8 p.m. and at 10 p.m. new and upcoming magicians can try their tricks during the "Magic Lab," an open-mic styled stage show. Cover for the 8pm stage show is $20 or $10 for the 10 p.m. Magic Lab. Or grab a full night of entertainment for $25.

At 10 p.m. experience The Kiss Kiss Cabaret, Chicago's longest running weekly burlesque/comedy performance presenting a crowd-pleasing, modern spin on the classic vaudeville show since 2011. And then get ready for the weird and wild Uptown After Midnight - a trifecta of companies producing Chicago's best "gore-lesque," circus arts, fetish and freakshow striptease. Cover for Saturday night is $25. VIP and Premium Reserved Seating option still available. Advance reservations recommended. Call or email for group rates or party inquiries.

Sunday nights are the talk of the town with radio personality James VanOsdol presenting his live stage talk show Uptown Live with James VanOsdol on Sundays at 7 p.m. This late-night style show features interviews with guests, stand-up comedy, musicians, classic Chicagoland commercials, a comedy monologue and more.
