Uncle Fatty's Rum Resort Hosts Fattypalooza 7/24 With A Battle Of The Bands

Lakeview's island-themed and spring break loving hotspot Uncle Fatty's Rum Resort (2833 N Sheffield Ave) is hosting Fattypalooza at 8pm Friday, July 24 that's a blowout party featuring free and discounted drinks while seeking out the next great high-energy cover band addition to its already robust musical lineup.

Fattypalooza is no cover charge "battle of the bands" where four up-and-coming acts (Mathien, Headwall, Turning Down Today, and a surprise band) will each play 45-minute sets of high-energy covers on Uncle Fatty's oval-shaped raised main stage. The cover bands will be judged in three categories: quality musicianship, stage presence, and draw/audience applause. Attendees can vote for their favorite band via paper ballot, and the winner will be announced at the end of the party. The victorious cover band will receive $1,000, and will secure a future gig at Uncle Fatty's.

During Fattypalooza, those who bring proof of having tickets for the upcoming Lollapalooza weekend will receive free domestic beer bottles and well drinks from 8pm-10pm. Other Fattypalooza's drinks specials include discounted $2 "Toxic Fruit Shots" (fresh fruit vodka infusions), and bottled beers of Modelo, Red Stripe, Corona, Pacifico, and Bud Light Lime are discounted to $4.

Nightlife vets Mark Kwiatkowski and Brian Galati created Uncle Fatty's - a 7,000 square foot ode to value driven, tropical inspired fun replete with four bars, an actual sandbox, scads of games ranging from Big Buck Hunter to bags, a stage showcasing Chicago's best high-energy cover bands, and private reservable cabanas. Uncle Fatty's innovative booze selections run the gamut from specialty cocktails served in 30oz "fish tanks", to signature frozen drinks, to "Cooler Service" where beers by 6, 12, 24, and 30 are served iced down. Uncle Fatty's also hosts low cost & high energy weekly events like "WTF Wednesdays!?" ($5 cover, $1 domestic bottles & well drinks, live band karaoke, and rockin' cover bands) and "Chaos Carnival" Thursdays (pong and flip cup with $20 all you can drink beer).
