The Shakespeare Project Presents MY NAME IS WILL, A Theatrical Adaptation Of Shakespeare's Sonnets And Songs

The Shakespeare Project of Chicago presents a special performance of MY NAME IS WILL, Peter Garino's adaptation of Shakespeare's sonnets and songs, April 7, 2019, at the St. Charles Public Library.

MY NAME IS WILL is a theatrical adaptation of 35 of Shakespeare's sonnets, accompanied by songs from eight of his plays. It is presented by two men and two women and takes the audience on an intricate journey through the many dimensions of the deeply personal and complex relationships underpinning Shakespeare's sonnets. The songs from Shakespeare's plays provide commentary and counterpoint to the themes explored. With an original score by Chris Walz, the non-baroque music (with a decidedly American foundation, ranging from pop to blues to bluegrass) presents these songs in a fresh and newly imagined context and is the perfect complement to the Bard's poetry and lyrics.

The production, adapted and directed by Garino, artistic director of the Shakespeare Project, features Judy Blue, Joe Lehman, Christopher Prentice and Mary Ringstad.

MY NAME IS WILL will be performed at 2 p.m., April 7, 2019, at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. 6th Ave., St. Charles, IL 60174.

Admission is free and seating is limited.

The Shakespeare Project of Chicago's theatrical readings are fully staged, book-in-hand performances featuring members of Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers.

The Shakespeare Projects's 2018/19 Theatrical Reading Season will conclude with Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton's THE ROARING GIRL, directed by Peter Garino, running May 10-16.
