Princess Imogen has everything: a boyfriend, her very own kingdom, and a collection of Shakespeare’s greatest hits. But when her father banishes her love far from home, she leaves everything behind for the adventure of a lifetime. In the end, Imogen must challenge her father, her society, and herself to claim true love.

The RIFF Collective explores a bold re-imagining of an often-overlooked classic by former Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Henry Woronicz in this exciting outdoor production of Cymbeline running August 31 through September 16 in the Northcenter Town Square.

The adaptation, developed at the Seattle Shakespeare Company, features an ensemble cast including Pamela Mae Davis, Andrew Embry, Jeff Kurysz, Sheila Landhal, Anne Thompson, and Aaron Wertheim. RIFF Artistic Director JD Cannady directs the productionwith costume design coordination by Emily Nichelson.

Following a successful New York City production earlier this year, RIFF has expanded on its mission of developing and devising adaptive theatrical experiences that create a conversation with our diverse community. Collective members include local and national playwrights, composers, and artists focused on re-imagining works as diverse as the community and world that we inhabit. RIFF is pleased to begin this new journey in Chicago with Woronicz’s Midwest premier adaptation of Cymbeline.

Performances of Cymbeline take place at 7:30pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between August 31 and September 16 at the Northcenter Town Square (4100 N Damen). A limited number of $15 tickets (reserves a chair as well as a drink) can be purchased online at www.RiffCollective.com, while audiences are also encouraged to pay-what-they-can and bring their own chair or blanket. In case of severe weather, performances will be postponed or canceled and ticket holders will be contacted for a transfer or refund.
