The Den Presents BUDDY WAKEFIELD With Growing Concerns Poetry Collective The Den Theatre is pleased to present three-time world champion spoken word artist BUDDY WAKEFIELD for one night only on Tuesday, March 20 at 8 pm (doors open at 7 pm) on The Heath Mainstage, 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Opening the evening is Growing Concerns Poetry Collective, performing selections from their recent book and EP release "We Here: Thank You for Noticing." Buddy Wakefield has been featured on the BBC, HBO's Def Poetry Jam, ABC Radio National and signed to Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records. In 2004, he won the Individual World Poetry Slam Finals thanks to the support of producer Norman Lear. He went on to share the stage with nearly every notable performance poet in the world in over 1500 venues internationally - from The Great Lawn of Central Park, Zimbabwe's Shoko Festival and Scotland's Oran Mor to San Quentin State Penitentiary, House of Blues New Orleans and The Basement in Sydney, Australia. He is currently touring the U.S.

Growing Concerns Poetry Collective is actor McKenzie Chinn, poet and rapper Mykele Deville and visual artist and musician Jeffrey Michael Austin. The group fuses lyrical narrative and hip-hop poetry with original music and soundscape to create spoken word performance that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The evening is curated by Rebecca Baruc.
